Boston Winter presented by Berkshire Bank*

Boston Winter presented by Berkshire Bank
Hey Guys,
Today I am going to talk about a fun event going on this holiday season in the city. Boston Winter presented by Berkshire Bank will be at City Hall Plaza throughout the month of December. I had the opportunity to check it out this past weekend and wanted to share my experience with you! It was below 30 degrees Saturday night however, that didn't stop the crowd. The place was packed! I tried my best to get some good pictures but many were affected by all of the lights and people walking around. Keep reading to hear about my this event!

Boston Winter is free to visit however there are exhibits/attractions that require tickets to be purchased. When you first walk in there are more than 40 chalets set up where you can browse many vendors selling unique gifts for the holidays. This is called the Holiday Market. Click the link to see the list of vendors!

They had everything from handmade jewelry and canvas photographs to home-made maple syrups and Scally Caps. They even had some vendors selling special treats and accessories for the fur babies in your life!

To the right of these little shops is a huge chair where you can take some fun pictures in. The line was pretty long so I decided to just snap a photo of another couple in the chair getting their picture taken,

There were tons of food stands selling everything from pretzels, apple crisp, specialty grilled cheeses, sausages peppers & onions to soups, cider, and hot chocolate.

Colin and I were pretty hungry so we grabbed some comfort food including clam chowder and lobster mac and cheese.

Luckily, they had a tent called the Urban Lodge where you could grab a beer, sit down at these barrel type tables, eat, and warm up.

One of the attractions was this Pedal Powered tree that is lit up/powered by the stationary bikes around it.

Another attraction was the Skating Path which was a track that you could pay to ice skate on. You could bring your own skates or rent a pair there. The line was so long that in wrapped around the path. I would have loved to ice skate but I didn't want to wait in the long line in the freezing cold. Those people waiting were troopers!

Another attraction that they have is Santa's House where kids can take pictures with Santa.

Close by is The Chocolate Story  where you can read about the origins of chocolate and how it is made as well as samples some different chocolate snacks. This area has little character displays/scenes that little kids would enjoy.

Here is the chocolate sampler:

It came with 2 chocolate dipped marshmallows, 2 chocolate dipped oreos, a little cup of hot chocolate, and some different types of mini chocolate squares.

They ran out of the hot chocolate when I got my sampler but I was told that I could come back to get it once its ready. If you are a huge chocolate lover, the sampler may be worth it for you. However, I personally would have rather just got a couple chocolate covered oreos. Either way, the little character displays were really cute and kids would definitely love this exhibit.

The last attraction of the night was Vinopolis. This was also my favorite attraction. It was a wine tasting inside a big heated tent. You could buy a wine tasting  that cost$25 for 6 samples or you could buy wine by the cup.

My favorite wine that I tasted was the Musato D'Asti which tasted like peaches! Another unique offering was their mulled wine. I had never heard of it prior to this tasting. Mulled wine is spiced wine that is served hot. It was definitely interesting and helped warm me up since it was freezing out!

This tasting is on a first come first serve basis. When we got to the tasting around 5:30 it was PACKED. We still managed to get our samples in a reasonable amount of time. Later that night, the tent cleared out and there was more room to hang out.

Also in the Vinopolis tent was an informational section where you could learn more about the wine making process.
