Dupe Alert: Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Chihuahua vs Maybelline Color Jolt in Stripped Down

Hey Guys,
Today I am going to share a quick comparison of two lip products. As many of you know, the Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paints are said to be very similar in pigmentation and consistency to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. I definitely agree with those claims. I also think I have a possible color dupe between two shades. In my opinion, I think that the Maybelline Color Jolt in Stripped Down is a dupe for the Too Faced Melted  Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua. Below is the info for each. Check out the swatches below to see for yourself!

Too Faced Melted Liquefied Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua $21.00

(This is a deluxe sample size)

Melted Chihuahua is a brownish-pink nude. It leans more towards the brown side but there are definitely pink undertones in it.

Here is what is said about this product on the Ulta site:
"Get the staying power of a stain, the intense color of a liquid lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in one long-wear formula. Using exclusive technology to keep cauldrons of molten lipsticks liquid and creamy, Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, high-impact, super rich, saturated color that lasts for hours.

More To Love:
  • Too Faced Co-Founder and Creative Director Jerrod Blandino had never seen lipstick more beautiful, intense, rich and glossy than when it's in its melted form in the cosmetic labs. With this inspiration, we created a lipstick liquified so it doesn't lose its pigment or shine while keeping a comfortable, flexible and cushiony wear.
  • Provides high-impact, super rich, saturated pigment in a long-wear formula.
  • Precision tip applicator to allow for a clean, effortless application each time (no liner needed!)
  • Vegan-friendly."

(full size)

Stripped Down is a nude pinkish mauve.

Here is what is said about this product on the Ulta site:
"Go beyond gloss with Maybelline's LipStudio Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint - glides on to deliver a jolt of intense color.

Benefits:
  • Amp up the intensity with 8x more pigment in every drop
  • Features a flocked tip precision applicator"

In the swatches below, you can tell that the Melted Chihuahua (left) is a bit more brown than Stripped Down (left) which is a bit more pink but that they are kind of similar.

However, as you can see below, they look very similar on the lips:

I wouldn't say that the are exactly the same color however, I think that they are similar enough to call them dupes. When I applied these on my lips, they were so slightly different that it really doesn't make sense to own both (in my opinion). They look even closer in closer in person. Since Stripped Down is half the price I would say skip on the Melted Chihuahua and get the Maybelline alternative.
