Review: Aveeno Active Naturals Smart Essentials*

Hi Ladies!
I'm here to share a new line of skincare products by Aveeno. The line is called Aveeno Smart Essentials (Fresh Essentials in Canada). I'm sure most of you are familiar with the brand Aveeno and its famous spokesperson Jennifer Aniston. It is a popular skincare brand found nationwide at most local drugstores, grocery stores, and mass merchandisers like Target and Walmart. The Aveeno brand focuses on natural ingredients paired with scientific technology to create products that are great for your skin and protect it from everyday environmental factors.
Aveeno Fresh Essentials
*The products recieved are samples from a PR agency in Canada which is why they are called Fresh Essentials and not Smart Essentials. However, they are the same products.

Aveeno's Smart Essentials (Fresh Essentials) line focuses on keeping what's good for your skin in and whats bad out.  The formula is made with anti-oxidants including Southernwood Extract and Vitamins A, C, and E. The products are said to help skin retain and replenish moisture while leaving the skin looking and feeling refreshed. The anti-oxidants are said to strengthen the skins moisture barrier helping protect the skin from the environment.  "In a clinical study, 100% of women who used Aveeno Smart Essentials showed improvement in the look of their stressed skin, including dark under eye circles, dry patches, and dullness" (Taken from Aveeno Fact Sheet).

Aveeno Smart Essentials Daily Detoxifying Scrub
Here is what is said about this product on the Aveeno site:
"Formulated with ACTIVE NATURALS® Southernwood, SMART ESSENTIALS® Daily Detoxifying Scrub helps keep what's good in and what's bad out. The natural loofah and coconut pulp-enriched formula gently polishes away pore-clogging debris, revealing a brighter, smoother look, and prepares your skin for your daily moisturizer."

This product is oil free and hypoallergenic. I am not a huge fan of the scent of these products in general but I did get used to it after using these for a few weeks. The scent is a mix between a floral and woody scent. That being said, this is a really great daily exfoliant. The gritty beads are very gentle compared to other scrubs that I have used. You could use this daily without having it be too much on your skin. While I love abrasive scrubs, I know some people don't. This would be a great scrub for people that want something more gentle but also feel like it did a good job at getting down into the pores and cleaned them out.

"Nourish and protect skin with this SMART ESSENTIALS® Daily Nourishing Moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 30. This moisturizer is supposed to help protect your skin from drying environmental stressors as well as UVA/UBV rays. Its also supposed to strengthen the skins moisture barrier. I really like this moisturizer. I usually use a gel moisturizer but have noticed that my skin has become dry in recent months due to the weather change and the fact that I have had a cold recently. The skin on and around my nose has been really dry and this moisturizer has done a great job at adding back moisture into those areas. It is lightweight and soaks into the skin fairly quickly. I like that it comes in a pump so that you don't have to stick your fingers into the product.

Here is what is said about this product on the Aveeno site:
"Get great, healthy-looking skin when you moisturize at night. Formulated with ACTIVE NATURALS® Southernwood and nurturing vitamins, SMART ESSENTIALS®Nighttime Moisture Infusion helps replenish skin’s natural moisture barrier while you sleep, so you can wake up to skin that feels refreshed, renewed, and ready to take on another day."

This night cream infuses your skin with a blend of anti oxidants and vitamins while you are sleeping at night. It is definitely a heavier product than the daily moisturizer. It feels a little greasy but that is because it is so rich and thick. It is meant to give your skin extra hydration at night while the skin is repairing itself. I think it is a nice and affordable night cream.

Here are what the products look like:

Overall, I really like this line. Even though I don't love the smell, its something that I go used to. I think that the products are really moisturizing especially for the dryer months during the winter. The line is super affordable and is very obtainable since it is found at many drug and grocery stores all around. I also really like that the products contain anti-oxidants to help protect your skin from the harsh environment.
